As of Fall 2025, the name of the Oxford City Hall Auditorium, GLT's home for many years, was officially changed to The Ox Theater. This was the culmination of a year's worth of upgrades to the venue's features, including the installation of a new digital lighting system, and a new state-of-the-art sound system, which replaced an analog system that was designed in the late 1980's. The new Ox Theater will be managed by the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department and will not only serve as the home of Granville Little Theatre, but will also welcome touring musicians, dancers, magicians, comedians and various other acts. As for the name change, going forward, all GLT promotions will state the location of our stage performances as The Ox Theater, not at the City Hall Auditorium. We hope the citizens of Oxford and Granville County will continue to support this vital institution, regardless of the name change and we hope that this short article helps clear up the confusion about what The Ox Theater is. Reorganization of GLT
In the summer of 2025, the GLT of Directors of GLT held a retreat to discuss some issues with the direction of the organization when it came to the distribution of responsibilities amongst members of the board. A member of the board proposed a reorganization of the Board, creating an Executive Board and an Artistic Committee, two separate but concurring bodies to hand the different elements of the company operations. The Executive Board would be the business arm of the theatre, handling the financial and boosting aspects of the board, while the Artistic Committee would be responsible for the choice, execution and production of shows and events. Approved by the Board after lengthy discussion, the beginning of this reorganization will start in Spring 2026.
